The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute hosted a virtual conversation on May 28, 2025 with Philip Shenon, author of the widely acclaimed, “Jesus Wept: Seven Popes and the Battle for the Catholic Church.”
Shenon discussed his book, the challenges facing the Catholic Church, and the new papacy of Pope Leo XIV, with institute director, John Shaw.
Shenon spent much of his career as an investigative reporter for the New York Times, covering the Pentagon, Justice Department, FBI ,and the State Department.
He is the author of two previous books: “The Commission: The Uncensored History of the 9/11 Commission” (2008) and “A Cruel and Shocking Act: The Secret History of the Kennedy Assassination "(2013).
