Convincing My LAZY MACAW To Fly | Comet

Practicing what I preach!!! QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

Comet is a 10 year old macaw at the time of this video who has never been clipped, was properly fledged and has always flown outside and done flighted behaviors indoors. However, he has always done the least when it has come to flight. Re-conditioning a bird who is out of shape is different than training older birds in general.

Here was Comet’s training schedule that happened for us:
Day 1: 7 morning flights
Day 2: 11 afternoon flights, 4 evening flights
Day 3: 9 morning flights, 14 evening flights
Day 4: 14 morning flights
Day 5: 21 morning flights
3 days off
Day 6: 25 evening flights
5 days off
Day 7: 30 morning flights, 25 evening flights
3 days off
Day 8: 27 evening flights
