Hi Folks, a very last minute decision. I had just seen the last two stall tickets at 4.30pm for the opening night (worldwide) for
"Pete Townshend's Quadrophenia A Mod Ballet" (with Orchestral Score) so decided to check it out. And very glad I did, its immensely interesting, especially if you are familiar with The Who, Pete & Quadrophenia in all its forms. By some strange coincidence fellow Youtuber Matthew North was sat right behind me so we could have a good chat about our impressions of the evening. His channel is @MatthewNorthMusic .
I was also interviewed by the Sadler's Wells promotions team which made me feel very important for 5minutes ; ) . I was a bit nervous so I'm sure I came across like Alan Partridge.
For any Who/music fans out there I would recommend this production/version as its something that should be very interesting for you if not special.
Some would say very special indeed. If you can make it, give it a go.
So will you have some tea, at the theatre with me?
In 1973, Pete Townshend wrote Quadrophenia, an album that went on sell millions of copies worldwide and quickly became a Who fan favourite. Quadrophenia went on to define a generation and in 1979 inspired the cult classic feature film of the same name.
Returning in 2025, the album is for the first time a dance production! Quadrophenia, A Mod Ballet features a large cast of exceptional dancers, introducing new audiences to troubled mod Jimmy’s story while remaining true in spirit to the much-loved original.
A rich, orchestral version of the album by Rachel Fuller, first heard in concert version at The Royal Albert Hall and recorded by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra is the backdrop for this adrenaline filled rollercoaster ride.
Choreographer Paul Roberts and Director Rob Ashford bring together some of the UK’s finest creative talent from the worlds of music, theatre, film and dance. With original costumes by renowned British fashion house Paul Smith and Natalie Pryce, projection by Nick Hillel and lighting design by Fabiana Piccioli.
