False Hare, released July 18, 1964, is a pivotal Robert McKimson-directed Looney Tunes short starring Bugs Bunny and the Big Bad Wolf (with nephew in tow). It's historically significant: the last Bugs Bunny cartoon of the Golden Age and the final short by the original Warner Bros. Cartoons studio, closing with classic bullseye titles and theme music. In this 6-minute comedic finale, the Wolf sets up a “Club del Conejo” (Rabbit Club) to lure Bugs—but Bugs plays along, repeatedly turning deadly traps (iron maiden, falling safe, cannon blast, dynamite tree) against the Wolf and his nephew. With every scheme backfiring, Bugs ends by musings: “I wonder which one will chicken out first” as Foghorn Leghorn hilariously joins, marking his last cameo in the era.
