This fine rifle is steeped in history having been presented by Queen Victoria’s Grandson Edward, HRH Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) to HH Nizam of the Deccan during his famous eight-month tour of India. The 27-inch Damascus barrels with folding leaf sight, have a rib engraved "To H.H. The Nizam of the Deccan from H.R.H. The Prince of Wales, KG CGSI, 1876". The 14 1/2-inch well figured stock with engraved steel butt plate is inlaid with a large gold oval bearing the Prince of Wales feathers and Star of India insignia. Still in its original case it is expected to attract worldwide interest at auction.
