Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal recently shared his perspective on startups, giving a reality check by comparing Indian and Chinese startup ecosystems. He urged Indian entrepreneurs to shift their focus from food delivery apps to more advanced technological solutions, sparking an online debate.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal questioned the current direction of Indian startups, pointing out that many are centered around food delivery, effectively turning unemployed youth into low-cost labor while the affluent benefit from home deliveries. In contrast, he praised Chinese startups for working on battery technology and electric mobility. Although he expressed pride in Indian startups, he posed a critical question: Are we truly the best in the world?
