Scenes & Sounds From Around The World is a series of films made in different locations of the world, especially cities, for the purpose of getting an idea of what cities look and sound like before travelling to them. There is no commentary or description of the sights included in the films. These films were made simply to get a feeling of what those places are like or to be able to stand on the streets of the filmed locations without travelling to them.
In this episode, we visit Lviv, a city in Western Ukraine.
This architectural gem in the Eastern Europe has not yet been spoiled by the global tourism. But it will be. Today, the entire centre of he city is still cobble stoned, which is the result of Soviet government not investing much into the cultural aspect of the nation's character.
The city, formerly one of the most important 5 cities in the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and then pre-1939 Poland, is another gem of Eastern Europe. Until 1939, it was the cultural centre of Poland and it is here where the major Polish universities were built. Today Lviv is the largest city in Western Ukraine and the 5th largest in the country. It is definitely a must see city in Europe.by MELLOW TV
