this paper proposes a unified theory of political evolution, arguing that all sociopolitical forms—from governments and institutions to resistance movements and civil society—evolve toward a maximum of five distinct types within their category. this "pentafurcation" is presented not as coincidence but as a structural necessity for complex systems to achieve adaptability, resilience, and the capacity for propagation. the theory identifies a fractal pattern across historical stages of power, from ancient hierarchies to modern networked societies, and introduces the concept of the mana stage—a phase of generative political fertility reached only through full fivefold diversification. conversely, failure to diversify results in structural sterility—a system with roots but no seeds, incapable of renewal. blending ontology, historical analysis, and systems thinking, the paper offers a diagnostic lens to assess the evolutionary vitality—or arrested development—of any political order.
