Nightwish’in Wishmaster şarkısı, tematik olarak hayal gücü, içsel keşif, fantastik edebiyat ve mitolojiye dayanan güçlü bir anlatı sunar. Şarkı; masalsı ve mitolojik temalarla süslenmiş, hayal kuran bir çocuğun zihinsel yolculuğunu ve bu yolculukta bir "Dilek Efendisi"ne (Wishmaster) ulaşma arayışını işler. Şarkı, özellikle J.R.R. "Crusade" (Sefer) burada mecaz anlamda kullanılır. Tıpkı bir haçlı seferi gibi, büyük bir kararlılıkla ve inançla yapılan bir yolculuk veya savaş demektir.
