Going on the reaction to my 'What's In Da Baax?' teaser for this video there's a lot people out there who have never watched the movie 'Se7en'...
If you froze it just at the right moment, instead of seeing a frame or two of Gwyneth Paltrow, you'd have spotted the 890R bars. Anyway. That'll teach me not to be such a smart ass in future!
Never fitted bars before. Not in a hurry to do it again after this attempt.
I thought that once I had the mirrors off and the bars disconnected and free to move about it would give me enough room to slide all of the switch gear off. Wrong! In the end I had to split the menu and starter controls to make it possible. Probably missed an easier/quicker option, but in the end it worked out.
Jumping back onto the stationary bike it wasn't the night and day a diffirence I'd expected. Not until the bike started rolling at least. Once on the move it became more apparent and I much prefered the more 'sporty' riding position. It's not 'sportsbike' forward, but it's way less 'touring' than it had been with the standard bars.
A trip to Kyle for lunch covering over 250 miles was no less comfortable on the old wrists and shoulders, but put me into more natural riding position for tackling the twisties. So, it's mission accomplished!
These are not cheap by any means. The Rizoma options were a good chunk less expensive and very tempting at the price. But the opinion and experience of mates goes a long way with me. Duke of Twist reckoned that jumping from his 890R onto his Woodcraft equipped 790 Duke there wasn't much in it! Peace of mind.
