The Three Musketeers continued to show off (read: preen for the camera!) at our next three! :-) These bells were unringable for a while, owing mostly to the poor frame design, but have recently had some work done by Taylors, notably to the wheels, to put them back into a suitable condition. There are plans, with renewed enthusiasm post-restoration, to replace the frame and augment the bells.
The bells, all cast in the 17th century, sound rather grand and somewhat mournful; we really quite liked them! The footage taken on the stairs really brought the tone out well - the "music box" was well rung to! :-) They handled reasonably well, but felt like they had big wheels, and the position of the treble rope wasn’t ideal for the fat ones among us!
Here, we found ourselves ringing from another modern gallery; this wasn’t a problem, as the modern kitchen and lovely local provided us with tea and Jaffa cakes! The east end of the church was particularly smart, with a fine wooden ceiling. Parts of the church date back to the 14th century.
