Amity Infinity (Original Song)

The title “Amity Infinity” came from an old mourning locket I have with “AEI” inscribed on it: amity, eternity, infinity. To me, these words reflect the strength of connection—a friendship, an enduring bond, and a love or memory that knows no bounds. They remind me of the quiet ways our lives intersect, the threads that link us despite our differences. Even the “small things” we do ripple beyond us—every act, no matter how small, carries weight.

I no longer see this song as just being about love or loss between those closest to us; it’s grown into a reminder to look past what is right in front of us and recognize our shared humanity.. I’ve learned that I don’t have to agree with someone to find and offer some understanding… Maybe the one thing we can all agree on is we all deserve the same kindness, love and consideration. After all, whether we realize it or not, we leave pieces of ourselves in one another—a remnant of shared experience, even if it’s tangled, imperfect, or unfinished.

“Amity Infinity” reminds me that war, whether between nations or within our own hearts, really leaves nothing but casualties in the end. The one who “loses last” is no winner at all; instead, aren’t they the ones left holding the weight of everything that came before—all that was lost in the process? I hope we can each remember to look down at our own feet, where we stand, and see the common ground beneath us. Shouldn’t we be looking out for each other?

This is another one of those songs that has grown, changed, and rearranged itself alongside me over time— it’s never been recorded, but I play it at almost every live show. It was written in the way back, when I was one half of the duo, “The Pickpockets.”It’s one I keep close and hold dear as I am so grateful for that beautiful collaboration, friendship, and memory.
