Don Moen(돈모엔) 목사님이 말씀하시길 이곡을 만들게 된 계기가 돈모엔 목사님의 아내의 누이와 남편 가정이 고속도로에서 교통사고가 크게 나서 아이들이 차에서 튕겨져 나오고 또 3명이 크게 다쳤다고 합니다.
믿기 어려운 그런 고난 가운데서도 돈모엔 목사님은 하나님의 뜻을 구했고 하나님은 그럼에도 불구하고 보이지 않는 손길로 인도하시고 길을 만드시는 분이라는 확신을 갖고 이 곡을 만들게 되었다고 합니다.
