Oberhofen in the canton of Bern is a wonderful village by the shores of Lake Thun. Oberhofen charms with its calm vibes and its picturesque castle. In 2018, Oberhofen was voted the most beautiful village of Switzerland. But is Oberhofen really that beautiful to rank first among the Swiss villages? In this video, I take you around the entire village of Oberhofen. There are many streets, few alleys and a number of traditional wooden houses that are very stereotypical for the Berner Oberland. Oberhofen starts at the shores of Lake Thun and ascends up the hill. The panorama of Oberhofen is very enchanting with the Swiss Alps and the lake in the background. Oberhofen can be easily reached by car but even better by ferry from Interlaken, Spiez and Thun. The castle of Oberhofen is a must-see, as its not only picturesque but also very historical. The interior is classic medieval, you can see how the rich and powerful people used to live in the past. The highlight is the oriental smoking room at the top floor. Also visit the gardens of the castle; the park is free and surely very enjoyable. Walk between the many trees and along the shores of the lake. Oberhofen is great to visit if you are staying at Interlaken region or thun region.
