The sanctions against the Finance Minister are linked to his leadership of the Justice and Equality Movement, an armed group accused of widespread destruction, and his recent visit to Tehran. The BBMB militia is sanctioned for receiving training and weapons from Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and for committing atrocities. The conflict, now in its third year, has resulted in over a million deaths and millions displaced.
