50 Jahre Tölzer Knabenchor Part 1

Bavarian TV Documentary: 50 Years Toelzer Boys Choir...German audio only...It is more about Schmidt-Gaden not much singing...
Here is a rough translation of part 1...Sorry, I'm not good in english...

In the choir room of the Church Ottobeuren the Toelzer boys choir together with the Bach Collegium Munich (the orchestra) rehearse for a big performance the C-Moll Messe by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
The reporter asks Schmidt-Gaden where he would see (how he would classify) the C-Moll Messe?

Schmidt-Gaden answers that the C-Moll Messe is a world's masterpiece.
And he ranks it as high as the Missa Solemnis and the H-Moll Messe.
Then you can see the choir rehearsing. At first he complains...There is too much K...Than he corrects the breathing technique of a boy...Kind of rude: Old aunt, old granny...Do you have to draw breath? He asks a different boy when to breath and when not to...The boy answers correctly..Then Schmidt-Gaden tells the boys that they are not
drilled/trained monkeys and have to think for themselves.

Then his wife his shown...She explains that her husband is and always was "obsessed" with music and always wanted to learn how it was done in the old times and always wants perform the music how it was performed back than.

Even as a boy Schmidt-Gaden loved music. His grandmother was a pianist , his father was a miller and not "musical" at all. And his mother supported and encouraged him. In Bad Tölz (the name-giver of the choir) he started his music career. When he was twelve he started as an organist. For ten years every Sunday he played the organ...The only difficulty was that in the beginning his feet couldn't reach the pedals (he was too short), so he played standing.
Schmidt-Gaden says that the music is the bridge too transcendency...He is asked if he is religious...He answered that he is religious and even tries to explain why they sing the music and what the music means to the boys. That he believes that there is something existing after live and the boys agree about that.
