The Bible was written on Papyrus, but its context was written in Clay. This is Clay and Papyrus!
Hebrew is most well-known as the language of the Hebrew Bible (or Old Testament), however, this was not always the case. Throughout its long, thousand-year history, Hebrew went through dramatic changes, as it evolved from a dialect of Canaanite to the language of the Bible. We will discuss Hebrew's relationship to Aramaic and Ugaritic, the development of the alphabet, changes Canaanite underwent transitioning to Hebrew (such as the Canaanite shift, loss of case-endings, collapse of the yaqtul conjugation), Hebrew's relationship to other Canaanite dialects (such as Israelian Hebrew, Phonecian, and Moabite), and Hebrew's end in the post-exillic period.
