Hey everyone! 👋
Today, we’re learning about the three states of matter — solid, liquid, and gas.
In a solid, particles are packed tightly in a fixed and orderly pattern. They can only vibrate, not move freely. That’s why solids have a fixed shape and volume — think of ice or a metal block.
In a liquid, the particles are close together but can move and slide past each other. Liquids don’t have a fixed shape — they take the shape of their container — but they do have a fixed volume, like water or oil.
In a gas, the particles are far apart and move freely at high speed. Gases have no fixed shape or volume, and they’re easily compressed, like oxygen or carbon dioxide.
Matter can also change from one state to another — solids melt into liquids, liquids boil into gases, and gases condense back into liquids. These are called changes of state.
So, solids are tightly packed, liquids flow, and gases spread out — that’s the magic of matter.
