Eid-ul-Fitr, also known as the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is one of the most significant religious festivals in the Islamic calendar. It marks the end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, and is celebrated with great enthusiasm by Muslims all over the world. The festivities usually last for three days, during which people come together to pray, feast, and exchange greetings with one another.
Day 1:
Eid-ul-Fitr begins with the sighting of the crescent moon, which marks the end of Ramadan and the beginning of the Islamic month of Shawwal. Muslims wake up early in the morning and take a shower, put on new clothes, and offer Eid prayers at the mosque or in open spaces, such as parks or fields. The Eid prayer is usually performed in a congregation, led by an Imam or a religious leader, and consists of two rak'ahs (units) with six takbeers (recitations of "Allahu Akbar").
After the Eid prayer, people greet each other by saying "Eid Mubarak," which means "Blessed Eid." They embrace and exchange gifts and sweets, such as dates, chocolates, and traditional Eid dishes, such as Sheer Khurma (vermicelli pudding), Haleem (a savory porridge made of wheat and meat), and Biryani (a spicy rice dish).
Day 2:
The second day of Eid-ul-Fitr is also known as "Choti Eid" or "Small Eid." It is a continuation of the festivities of the first day, during which people visit their relatives, friends, and neighbors, and exchange gifts and sweets. Children often receive "Eidi," which is a gift of money given by elders as a token of love and blessings.
In many Muslim countries, the second day of Eid-ul-Fitr is also a public holiday, and people take this opportunity to go out and enjoy various recreational activities, such as visiting amusement parks, beaches, and shopping malls. In some places, traditional sports, such as cricket, football, and wrestling, are also organized on this day.
Day 3:
The third day of Eid-ul-Fitr is known as "Bari Eid" or "Big Eid." It is a more relaxed day, during which people spend time with their families and friends and indulge in leisurely activities, such as watching movies, playing games, and enjoying traditional Eid food.
In some Muslim countries, the third day of Eid-ul-Fitr is also marked by charity and social service. People donate money and food to the poor and needy, visit hospitals and orphanages, and organize community events, such as blood donation drives and health camps.
DHA Event:
In Pakistan, the Defense Housing Authority (DHA) is known for its grand and elaborate Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations. DHA is a housing scheme that provides luxurious living facilities to the military and civilian elite of the country. It is spread over several cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, and is known for its lush green parks, modern amenities, and upscale lifestyle.
During Eid-ul-Fitr, DHA organizes a series of events and activities for its residents and visitors. These include food festivals, musical concerts, fashion shows, and fireworks displays. The main attraction of the DHA Eid celebrations is the "Eid Milan Party," which is a grand gathering of families and friends, dressed in their best attire, and enjoying a lavish feast of traditional and international cuisines.
The Eid Milan Party is held in a grand hall or a spacious lawn, decorated with colorful lights, flowers, and balloons. There are separate arrangements for men and women, and special activities for children, such as magic shows, puppet shows, and face painting. The highlight of the party is theSocial Media Links:
