Slider cranks are common mechanisms that can found in many complex machines. The slider crank transforms rotating motion to a translating motion. This is a helpful mechanism in machine design. The video uses two methods: relative motion and the instantaneous center of zero velocity. Relative motion needs more computation by using cross products. Instantaneous center of zero velocity analysis relies heavily on geometry and trigonometry. Both methods yield the same results.
These lessons are an introduction to the topic of Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics. The lessons follow the chapter progression in R.C. Hibbeler Engineering Mechanics: Dynamics textbook. They are brief tutorials of the main concepts.
