SPLIT ist die zweitgrößte Stadt Kroatiens und größte Südkroatiens und gilt daher im Volksmund auch als „Hauptstadt Dalmatiens“. Mit den ca. 170.000 Einwohnern kann man Split historisch, wie auch wirtschaftlich als das vitale Herz Mitteldalmatiens bezeichnen. Die wunderschöne Uferpromenade auch Riva genannt beginnt am Fährhafen und zieht sich lang am Meer hin. Die Riva ist Flaniermeile und Wohnzimmer der Bürger zugleich. Es herrscht ein buntes Treiben in den Straßencafés, Bars und Restaurants, alle samt mit herrlichem Blick auf das Mittelmeer.

SPLIT is the second largest city in Croatia and the largest in southern Croatia and is therefore popularly known as the "capital of Dalmatia". With its approximately 170,000 inhabitants, Split can be described as the vital heart of central Dalmatia, both historically and economically. The beautiful waterfront promenade, also called Riva, starts at the ferry port and stretches along the sea. The Riva is both a promenade and a living room for the citizens. There is a colourful hustle and bustle in the outdoor cafés, bars and restaurants, all with magnificent views of the Mediterranean Sea.
