Earthbound / Mother 2 - Sanctuary Guardian [Trip Hop/Acid Jazz arrangement]

Finally, after dealing with a failing hard drive and corrupted drum recordings, I'm glad I can put something out already ! I tried a lot of stuff in this arrangement, and I got to use my new Ibanez RG ! I usually play in drop C tuning, but I haven't tuned this guitar this low yet so this song is in standard tuning

I can't say Earthbound was a game of my childhood as I only discovered it in my last years of high school, but it's a great game and it has great and very original music !
This song put me off a bit because while it's supposed to be a boss fight theme, I find it very melancholic and relaxing. So I wanted to bring out these aspects by arranging it into something inspired by trip-hop and acid jazz (and even shoegaze !), which are styles I love and listen to quite a lot, but don't usually make much myself. The heavier parts and the solo are more inspired by Battle Against a Dangerous Foe from Mother 1, as it shares the same themes as Sanctuary Guardian. It was a fun experiment and I like how it came out !
