Replacing the Friction Wheel on a Tracked MTD Snow Blower

The rubber drive ring inside your snow blower's drivetrain doesn't last forever. In this video, I show you how to remove and replace the ring on a tracked Troy-Bilt (MTD) snow blower.

My machine is 8 years old and this is the first time I am replacing the drive ring. The snow blower in this video is a Troy-Bilt Storm Tracker 2690 XP. This video is not sponsored nor is it a review or recommendation. This just happens to be the blower I have.

The process should be similar for many other brands too. If your snow blower has wheels, you can pop them off and this process will be even easier.

Lastly, note how green the grass is! I do all my power tool maintenance in the Spring, including the snow blower. It's easier doing everything at once, and its a lot more pleasant working on a sunny Spring day than a cloudy cold Fall day.
