SHOW NOTES:
It's hard to not let the superfan in me show its colors these days. King Crimson's music is more or less my favorite of all time, and this show in celebration of their 80s output is the stuff of dreams. With a lineup consisting of half original Crimson members and half bonafide progressive rock legends, it's no wonder this music was so much fun to hear, and played at such a high level. Fans have been staring this tour down for the better part of the last year, and the setlist delivered a mix of expected classics, surprise inclusions, and even songs that had never yet been performed in years past. I'm thrilled that they booked so many dates and hope they keep having as much fun on stage as it looks like they're having. To witness set pieces like the percussion/stick intro to Waiting Man, or the avant barrage of Industry, or the satisfying melodic staples like Frame by Frame and Three of a Perfect Pair is such a treat. And to cap off the setlist with Thela Hun Ginjeet solidifies that song as THE signature Adrian Belew song in the catalog. Go see this band!
TAPING COMMENTS FROM NKLOTTERY:
Technical notes: Seated in the Loge section, a bit right of center, front row, microphones in the A-B (wide) position. The device was nestled in a shirt in my lap, as the ushers were very strict about not having any objects placed on the rail of the Loge. A stealth approach wasn't required per se, but I wanted to pay close attention to this performance and not be fiddling around with a backlit device the whole time.
