Buying a new Civic

Decision points in buying a new car.

I was looking for a coupe, and the last Civic coupes (10th Gen) were assembled in 2020

I couldn’t find any with low miles locally, but I did find a few further away and I was willing to fly out and road-trip home. Wife pushed me to look at 11th Gen.

Powertrain
1.5T vs K20
My 2 Honda mechanics made hard recommendations for the K20 over the Turbo. The K20, having been around since 2001, is a solid performer with the ability to reach 300K miles with proper maintenance!

CVT vs M6
The CVT was the only choice in case my wife wants to drive it, she’s only driven one old standard transmission, and she wasn’t good with the clutch. Honda’s CVT is among the best out there.

My Everyday Ride
I was looking for a daily driver with no plans to take it to the track, except as a spectator. I may do some mods to make it look cool, and perform better. But, I can’t overdo it, or I could risk the CVT.

This car needs a good name:
My white ‘96 Mazda MX-6 was named Dwight by a work colleague
My orange ‘05 Element was called Orange Crush
My white ‘70 C-10 was named Jane, since she was assembled in Janesville, WI.
