Out of the Poke” presents – by tale and deed – a family history by the presenter – a 7th generation Ozarker with 49 direct ancestors that lived in the western Ozark regions of Arkansas and Missouri. By detailing the lives of these people and their neighbors, an authentic picture emerges of what “old stock” Ozark natives were really like, rather than how popular literature has portrayed them.
Lyle Sparkman is a 7th generation Ozark native with his primary ancestry from the White River Hills of Northwest Arkansas and Southwest Missouri. He is an Army veteran and a public school educator of 37 years experience. His wife Martha, daughter Sarah, and husband Roger live in Washington County, Arkansas.
