In loving Memory of Leah Nthamba Kaleli (Mama) 1937 - 2025

BIRTH
The late Mama Leah Nthamba Kaleli was born around 1937 to the late Wambua Itumo and Ngusye Itumo in Kionyweni Village. She was a sister to Munywoki, Kituku, the late Ndambuki, Munyao, and the late Nzuva. She was a step sister to the late Kivuva, late Mwanzia, late Ngau, late Muthiani, late
Munene, late Mukuki, Lungu, Nduva, the late Mukai Kiilu, the late Ndeve Mungala, the late Kuthea Mulinge, the late Kalondu Seng’e, Mwikali Mbuvi, the late Wayua, the late Meli Muindi, and
Nthanze Wambua.
MARRIAGE
The late Leah Nthamba Kaleli was married to the late David Kaleli in 1950. Together, they were blessed with eight children: Beatrice Mueni, Michael Muange, the late John Mutuku, Joshua
Mulwa, Luisa Mutheu, Timothy Muinde, James Kilonzo, and Miriam Kathue. She was also a stepmother to the late John Matheka, the late Grace Kivuva, and Margaret Ndungi.She was a mother-in-law to Phyllis Matheka, Elizabeth Matheka, the late Jemimah Mutuku, Esther Mulwa, Catherine Muinde, Mary Kilonzo, Jackline Kilonzo, Daniel Kitaka, Gerald Kyule, and the late Aron Mulata Ivia.
GRANDCHILDREN
She leaves behind 27 grandchildren, namely: Hellen, Harriet, Fredrick, Juliet, Rogers, Alex, Mbithe, Agnes, Cloris, Evans, Collins, Grace, Mildred, Evaline, Cynthia, Caren, Kelvin, Evaline, Cindy, Brian, Mbithe, Florence, Felix, Damaris, Dorcus, Linus, and June.
GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN
She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Dennis, Stella, Leon, Lindsay, Shadrack, Glory, Mary, Nancy, Grace,Donald, Emelda, Marion, Lilian, Jesse-Albert, Gabriel Kelsey, Elvis, and Queen.
FAMILY LIFE
Mama Leah was a true Family lady. She has been a beacon of hope and a steadfast Matriarch from where her family got its strength and fortitude to become what the family has now become. After passing on of her husband late David kaleli in 2001, Leah embarked on the stewardship of the
family. A devoted Christian, the family benefited immensely from her value for life, fear of God and good citizenship. Even after raising her own kids, Leah embarked on mentoring her grand kids. Through her immense generosity even when she had nothing to offer, hope and encouragement was all what she offered. Leah was a mere famer but her grandkids never lacked food, fees, clothing or any basic need. A selfless lady who Loved others more That she loved herself.
EDUCATION
Late mama Leah was enrolled in the flagship program of adult education inthe advent of the Nyayo era in 1979. She continued with this program and attained the necessary certification in 1984. Late Leah could read and write.
SOCIAL & COMMUNITY LIFE
The late Mama Leah was an active and respected member of the community. Her distinguished service to the community spans decades and is all painted in bold black and white in the eyes
of the Mbukuni and Kionyweni villagers. An astute community mobilizer, peace maker, eloquent community influencer even in her meager educational background, Leah chaired and
patronized various community-based programs in the village and her insight steered them to great lengths of success. Areas where she was incorporated as a committed member includes village schools, community-based organizations and village group get-togethers. Early 2001, Leah was appointed as the village manager in charge of Mbukuni village. For over two decades Leah resolved many issues affecting the community members with regard to family disputes and many other
unrelated conflicts that daily afflict the today families. Even after her retirement on the year 2022, Leah continued To champion the Nyumba Kumi initiatives and mentoring the young leaders
in the fight against community upheavals and other petty criminal acts. Through her magnanimity and value for good neighborliness Leah donated her residence free of charge to the village administration for hosting Nyumba Kumi meetings and other community initiatives where they
assembled freely and when required.
CHRISTIAN LIFE
Late Leah Nthamba kaleli since her early life was a devoted Christian. In the days of Envoy Masandi, Leah was confirmed soldier of the Lord in the salvation Army in 1951 at Masii Citadel commonly known as Kyamuthilu. In 1951. Mama was Soldiers’ roll number 9. In her long service to Ukalani Citadel, she is one of the longest serving Sargent in charge of visitors, a position she retired
in 2012. Her generosity and devotion to Christian life in the helm of church leadership till her last days cannot go unnoticed. Even in her weakest, Leah was a prominent participant of all church obligations.
ILLNESS & FINAL DAYS
Leah has lived a good life full of health in body and soul. In July 2023, she was enrolled on monthly medical review at Tumaini medical center in Masii. She constantly continued with the check up until 4th June 2025, where she was admitted at Machakos level 5 hospital after showing signs of poor health. S
