Today we’ll be hafting or attaching a knapped blade to a cholla cactus handle. The hollow skeletons of many cholla cactus species make neat handles for knapped knives. I decided to spice things up a little bit and go with the theme of post-apocalypse by filling the hollow cholla handle with glow stones. These “stones” are made of strontium aluminate silicate, the same stuff in high-intensity glow powder.
The blade was knapped from a piece of the front of a broken CRT TV. The TV was one of the large older ones with the large tube inside. The front glass is large and thick, the way I like it for knapping. The glass works like obsidian, though it is a little less durable. While I could definitely see this knife doing well for skinning, something tells me this one might end up in a dark place near a black light.
Thanks for watching and enjoy!
