What happens when you give high school students from underserved communities the tools, mentorship and confidence to see themselves in science? You ignite a future in STEM.

Led by Dr. Marilyn Mackiewicz, the Ignite inSTEM program at Oregon State University’s College of Science is a transformative summer experience for first-generation, low-income and rural high school students. Through hands-on lab work, nanomaterial synthesis and professional development, students gain skills that last a lifetime — and the confidence to pursue college and careers in science.

Scientific research and lab techniques
How to advocate for themselves and build mentoring relationships
Leadership, networking, and communication skills
A sense of belonging in STEM fields
