Solar power – The godly Sun.

Surya Namaskar, is an age old tradition in India to give due respect to the Sun. We call it Sun God, rightly because it is the biggest powerhouse that earth could have. We all derive energy from the Sun, directly or indirectly.

Plants photosynthesize and store energy, which is used by all the living creatures may it be plant or animals. We humans eat vegetables, fruits, spices, cereals and all this comes from the Sun’s energy. Even wind blows because of temperature differences which again is the gift from the Sun. Today we have many renewable energy resources, primarily like hydro power, wind power, and biogas. And they all have one source, the mighty SUN.
Out of these, the most successful and oldest energy resource is Hydro power. Today hydropower contributes maximum energy output throughout the world. But why?

Sun raises the water through evaporation and these vapors condensate and creates rain. The difference of the potential energy is then used to create electrical energy. The dam reservoir works as mega battery. This is natural process of saving the energy through potential difference in water level. Unfortunately we could not create a battery that could last long and can store enormous amount of electrical energy.

What if new inventions in battery sector achieve this feat? Like Tesla Gigafactory is trying. The whole game will change. This will change the fate of mankind, just like electricity itself made revolution in last century. The first half of 21st century will see a leap in IT sector, but the other half would see the total changeover in power sector, that too in solar.

Now consider batteries or capacitors that could hold lot of energy. Say 1000KWh within the space of our Almerah. With solar panel price is going down tremendously, its reach will be almost to every urban and semi urban houses. The future is gonna rock you.
Wind power seems an alternative solution, however turbine needs minimum wind speed which cannot be predicted and is not available all the time. While Sun is available during the day and it is guaranteed. We may have cloud, but still solar cells will produce while turbine won’t. We need weather science to predict rain or wind, but not for the Sun.

It rises from the east and sets in the west. The accuracy of it is so much, that time had been derived from its movement. Time is synonym to Sun.

We cannot build a dam for our small needs, we cannot create biogas plant for our house in urban city. The only option is Solar. Surprisingly, it does not make sound; it does not spoil the beautiful skyline of the city or natural surroundings. Just put the panels on the roof and we are done. The only bottleneck we are facing is the storage for the time when sun is not available.

Because we can generate and store energy, we don’t need the electric supply. We can build our house anywhere, we can have factories and manufacturing units anywhere rather than spoiling the costly lands near the cities due to energy needs. No petrol pumps but charging stations. No need to have grid supply for small utilities, making our cities wireless.

This all will happen and many of us will see this beautiful future. By 2040, most of the vehicles will be electric that will raise the demand 5 folds what we need today. India has to produce 2000 Gw of Energy which presently produces 350 Gw. 500 GW will be required for electric vehicles only. It’s a lot of energy, but the Solar power will make it happen.

There will be huge demand all over the globe, still there will be no energy crisis. The world will soon believe that Sun is God, they will wait to see the Sun rising from the Horizon to start their day and will see the Dusk with the hope to see the Dawn next morning.
It will change the lifestyle, the day hours will be utilized to the maximum. Time zones will be a necessity, people have to start their work when Sun rays fall on Solar panels and not seeing the time their our Watches.

The maximum output will be when sun is in the sky. The power will be cheap in a day time which presently is otherwise. Farmers can have power in day time for their agricultural needs; they were seeing the clouds for their crops before and now will wait for the sun too as eagerly. 45 degree Celsius temperature will not make us worry, but will make us celebrate.
