Abandoning A Pedestrian Railroad Crossing, Eliminating Train Horns, Changing The Railroad Crossing To Quad Gates & Installing Fences On The CSX Mainline In Glendale, Ohio Back In January Of 2020. A few years before the town of Glendale became a " No Train Horn Zone ", I did a series of videos explaining what was about to happen. All the changes above were made and a nearby road crossing was eliminated. Albion Road had the railroad crossing removed. I met with the mayor a few years before the changes came and was told what was happening. It took a few years but as you can see today, all of the changes were made.
The first train is a huge train with a mid train DPU. This is a CSX mixed freight running northbound on Track 1. Back in 2020 huge trains with DPUs weren't as common as they are today. It was a cold, dreary day. I ate inside the restaurant next to the tracks and filmed a few trains from inside. There was a lot of talking from the group of people inside so I removed that audio and installed music instead and only showed parts of a few trains. These are some of the trains from the last day of train horns. I think this is interesting to reflect back on the way it used to be.
Not only do I miss the train horns but I also miss the pedestrian railroad crossing. It was a handy shortcut that connected the parking lot to the businesses across the tracks. It saved a lot of walking. I wasn't a fan of the fences either and it was a shame to see the Albion Road railroad crossing get permanently abandoned. Thats progress though.
