Stephen Sleight showed me a new version of the Reverse Matrix at the Darwin Wednesday Night Magic Club here in Las Vegas. He told me he developed it after seeing a handling by Shoot Ogawa. Stephen streamlined the choreography, making the effect cleaner and significantly more magical—this is now my favorite approach to the Reverse Matrix. I added my four-way show sequence from Another Reverse Matrix (Las Vegas Kardma, 1994) to round it out.
It’s interesting to look back: I read and performed a kickback version as far back as 1969, it relied on a specialized gaff. If anyone recalls the 1969 version of the Reverse Matrix, I would love to know where it was published and by whom—please share this information in the comments.
