CONCORDE Flightplan, ColdDark to Supersonic Cruise, Landing

In this tutorial we are going to fly the DC Designs Concorde in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
We are going to do our flight plan from Paris to Cairo in a tool called Little Navmap and talk
about the Tank- and Trim-Systems of the Concorde. Based on these calculations we are going to load
the needed amount of fuel and our desired amount of Passengers and Cargo in the simulator.

After an overview of the important sections of the flight deck, programmed as individual cameras,
we go Cold and Dark and start up Concorde with an essential checklist

We then fly from Paris to Cairo, with explanations in all the important phases of the flight,
concentrating on the supersonic parts and special features of Concorde.

In between we have a look outside, Concorde is a beautiful plane, and the MACH cone of silence
always stunning! Approach and landing are not a focus of this tutorial.

The British-French built Concorde is still today the only commercially viable supersonic passenger
aircraft, therefor excluding the 2 months older Tupolev 144

Concorde was noisy and cramped, the flight deck almost completely analog, which required a dedicated
flight engineer besides the two pilots.

Build for speed at the edge of contemporary engineering knowledge, the Concorde's design and procedures
are unique. For example, with its Double Delta shaped wings it was optimized for supersonic flights at
high altitudes, but therefore the angle of attack at low speeds is so high, that the long nose needed
to be lowered for the pilots to see in front of the plane.

The afterburners are another unique feature, only ever seen on military aircraft otherwise. If engaged
they delivered a high amount of additional thrust, but also used an enormous amount of fuel.

In its supersonic flight envelope Concorde "glides" in a very delicate zone ("the Goldilocks zone"),
dictated by the aircraft's speed, weight, altitude and temperatures at any given time of flight.
The temperature of the hull in supersonic flight must for example strictly remain below 127 degrees Celsius.

The first flight of Concorde was in 1969, it entered commercial service in 1976 with Air France and
British Airways. It primarily flew routes with British Airways from London to Bahrain, New York, Miami,
and Barbados, and with Air France from Paris to Dakar and Rio, Azores and Caracas, New York, and Washington.

British Airways and Air France were also the last airlines to retire Concorde in 2003. A total of 14
aircraft entered commercial service, to carry from 92 to a maximum of 128 passengers.

Most of the aircraft are preserved in museums in Europe and the US.

Tragically, one Concorde and many lives were lost in 2000 (livery in their memory)
