KIIT Horror: Prakriti Lamsal's Tragic Story | Nepali Students KICKED OUT of India?

On 16 February, 20-year-old Nepali student Prakriti Lamsal tragically ended her life in her hostel room at KIIT, Bhubaneswar. Allegations quickly emerged that she had been harassed and blackmailed by fellow student Advik Srivastava. Her death sparked widespread outrage, with over 500 Nepali students protesting on campus, demanding justice.

The situation quickly escalated as university authorities attempted to forcibly remove protesting students, leading to clashes, roadblocks, and disturbing reports of security officials assaulting protestors and teachers hurling racist remarks at the distressed students.

The case has drawn international attention, with Nepal’s Prime Minister, KP Sharma Oli, urging India to intervene. The Nepalese Embassy has since stepped in to assist students, while Indian authorities have launched a fact-finding probe. Meanwhile, Advik, accused of persistently harassing Prakriti, was arrested while allegedly attempting to flee.
