How do we feel about planning our trip to Tawau?

To be honest, we were intrigued by why Tawau often gets overlooked by travelers. Most people seem to rush straight to Semporna or Mabul Island right after landing, barely pausing to explore.

In our opinion, when you’re traveling to a destination that’s a bit off the beaten path (or a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity), it’s absolutely worth maximizing your time by exploring as much as possible!

During our 8-day adventure in Sabah, we were thrilled to discover all three destinations for the first time. We truly believe that having a solid plan is the secret to an unforgettable experience!

We kicked off the first destination with an immersing the Mabul Island (   • Ini Cerita MABUL : The Bungalow | The Peop...   ), then continued to see amazing islands in Semporna (   • Ini Cerita SEMPORNA: The Most Amazing Isla...   ) and now we are ready to set in our footprint in Tawau.

We’ve rented a car in Semporna Town and took about 1hrs 15mins to reach Tawau town
0:00 Day Six - The Peaks of Tawau
2pm: Lunch at The House of Nasi Kuning Hj Thamrin (The Best of Nasi Kuning in town with an array of side dishes to pair with)
3pm: Check-in SVOK Hotel (Clean modern room, Convenient location with lot of eateries and groceries around)

7pm: Visit to The Peaks (Enjoy a panoramic view of Tawau from 1200 feet above sea level)
8.30pm: Dinner at Sri Titingan (Got busker that singing local songs and watch the video to get to know their must-order menu)
10pm: Back to Hotel

5:11 Day Seven - The Dark Volcanic Basalt
8am: Breakfast at Borneo Mee Tauhu (One of the best place to try this delicacy of Mee Tauhu)
9am: Photography at the Tawau Landmark (Must-go this tourist landmark structure of Tawau)
9.30am: Visit the Al-Kauthar Mosque (The largest mosque in the state of Sabah with a tsunami warning tower was installed at the premises)
10.30am: Exploring the Columnar Basalt (The lava pillow site where the geological phenomena that exists in many places on earth, which also put Malaysia on the map)
11.30am: Teck Guan Cocoa Village (Great place to know the fruit behind your chocolate bar), they got nice SunDeck too!
12.30pm: Back to Hotel
2.00pm: Pasar Tg Tawau (Best Place to shop the Tawau’s dried foods and souvenirs. Their market almost similar to Sinsuran market in KK)
3.30pm: Dropby at Tawau Wet Market (We found the iconic fish of Sipadan Island here and they sell white shark too!)
4.00pm: Late lunch at BalikPapan Restaurant (Got surprised with the total bill! A must try menu - The Grilled Boulu Fish and Acar (pickled) Sauce Fish)
5.00pm: Back to Hotel
8.00pm: Night Walk at Night Market Chester Road (Very happening night market in Tawau)
10pm: Back to Hotel
