This video is of me fixing my gas furnace and circuit board that has no power after a power surge fried my transformer. I live in Kansas and the other day we had an extremely windy day. The wind caused some of my electrical wires on the outside light pole to become dislodged and touch. This caused a major power surge and transformer fuse trip. We had to call the local electric foreman to figure it out. It took them about 4 hours to completely fix everything. That being said, they performed their "first fix" within about an hour and turned our power back on. There was still a short and our power to the house was doing some weird things. For example, half of the breakers didn't have power... My basement power wasn't working and my garage power wasn't working as well. I initially thought that something in my breaker box went bad after the frying event and reluctantly called them back to troubleshoot. Well they came back and realized that the wires were touching and I guess they hadn't noticed that originally so they went back up to the pole to perform additional actions. After all was said and done, the power was back to normal. It wasn't until the next day that I realized that our furnace wasn't working. After about an hour of investigation, I realized that the circuit board wasn't getting power. I did further research and was ready to purchase a new one online and have it shipped to me for me to install my self. I then stumbled across another youtube video describing how power surges can fry the transformer that steps down the 120 VAC to 24 Vac. I checked that out and discovered that low and behold, that was actually the problem. I then made some last minute calls to local heating and air shops and found someone that had a transformer to sell and went and bought it. I got home, installed it, and it instantly started right up. This video walks you through all of that and how I installed and tested the transformer. I hope it helps you out if you are having similar problems.
Here is the list of products as available on Amazon (I live in a small town in Kansas and Amazon is pretty much where I purchase everything…) These are Amazon affiliate links which means that if you buy something I get a small amount and that helps to keep my videos going and purchase things like tripod, camera batteries and memory cards, tools, etc.)
