Lecture 2 deals with the Guadalcanal Campaign, with a different interpretation of its significance, especially as most historians name Midway as the "turning point" in the War in the Pacific. Midway, like Coral Sea, was a defensive victory, covered in the first lecture in this series, but Guadalcanal was the first offensive victory and caused the Japanese leaders to realize they could not win the war, even if they could not lose. The change in mindset is the real turning point.
