This Simple Tomato Dal is a comforting and flavourful everyday dish made with basic ingredients. Perfect to enjoy with hot steamed rice or roti 🍚😋
🧾 Ingredients
Dal (soaked for 30 minutes)
Tomatoes (sliced)
Onion (sliced)
Green chillies
Turmeric powder
Red chilli powder
Oil
Garlic
Dry red chillies
Curry leaves
Tempering seeds (jeera / mustard seeds)
Salt
👩🍳 Preparation Method
Add soaked dal to a pressure cooker.
Add sliced tomatoes, sliced onion, and green chillies.
Add a pinch of turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt, and oil.
Close the lid and cook for 5 whistles.
Switch off the flame and let the pressure release naturally for 10 minutes.
Open the lid and coarsely grind the dal using a mixer.
Transfer the dal to a serving bowl.
For Tempering:
Heat oil in a pan.
Add tempering seeds, garlic, dry red chillies, and curry leaves.
Pour the tempering over the dal and mix well.
