Dumas Whitehall maiden Memorial Day 2023

Hi y’all. I decided to maiden my Dumas Whitehall today. She ran well!! This is an out of production Dumas kit. It makes a nice model but the build can be challenging. There’s no fittings with this kit as they were made by a 3rd party and he’s since retired, so the builder needs to build/buy/scrounge his or her own. The hull is a 2 piece affair, which is ok, but it’s very thin, thinnest I’ve seen in an rc boat kit, so one must be careful sanding and really watch the alignment.
I powered her with a 36 mm 650 kv motor from Zippkits. It’s a largish motor for this model, but it works perfectly. Power comes from a 5200 mah 2S lipo, command and control is from a Radiomaster 16S, Frsky receiver and the helm is actuated by an older GWS Micro servo. Fittings came from my stash and scrap, except for the 40mm Bofors … Steve Davidson found the files and our resident sub skipper,Ed Tordahl printed them in resin.
All in all a slightly frustrating but overall good project, she’s a keeper!!
