[How to APPLY T-NEX] Plant Growth Regulator (PGR)

Plant growth regulators can be used to increase or decrease the gibberellic acid sythesis in your Bermuda or Zoysia grass lawn. So by modifying this hormone through chemical application we can make grass grow faster or in our case make it grow slower. Our focus is on inhibiting the gibberellic acid hormone synthesis which is what plants (like turf grass) use for growth.

6 Classes of PGR (A- F) but for our purposes, we focus on the first 2 (A and B)

Class A PGRs inhibit gibberillic acid synthesis at the end of the pathway (i.e. the leaf) - Trinexapac-ethyl. Class A are absorbed foiliarly (i.e. through the leaf). No watering for 6 hours. T-Nex used as our Class A with trinexapac-ethyl as the active ingredient. Provides growth supression for 4 weeks (depending on rain and fertilization). 2 - 3 days to begin working. Can cause slight discoloration (yellowing) after application which goes away in few days after mowing.

Class B PGRs inhibit gibberillic acid synthesis earlier in the pathway (i.e. root uptake) - Paclobutrazol. Class B are absorbed through the roots. Work best when watered in within 24 hours. We use Tide Paclo 2Sc as our Class B with paclobutrazol as the active ingredient. Provide growth suppression for 6 - 8 weeks. Takes 7 - 10 days to begin working. Slower than class A but no other real negatives.

Plant growth regulators are an incredible lawn care chemical that slow the growth of turf grass by inhitbiting giberrilic synthesis. Definitely consider them for your bermuda grass lawn or zoysia grass lawn.
