MARCEL LANQUETUIT studied privately with Marcel Dupré before entering the Paris Conservatoire in 1913 to study with Eugène Gigout. He would later assume the position of organiste titulaire at Notre Dame Cathedral, Rouen (1938–1978). Preferring to improvise rather than compose, only two works of his survive, and both of them are published in L'Orgue Moderne. His Intermezzo appears in Volume 33 (1923) of the collection.

=======================
Recorded and performed on 14 October, 2025 by Aaron Tan on the 2024 III/67 Juget-Sinclair organ in Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Richmond, VA.
This video is part of THE L'ORGUE MODERNE PROJECT, which features ten initial recordings from a relatively unknown collection of attractive works in the French symphonic tradition curated by Widor and Guilmant, with the hope to publish further recordings of the collection in the near future.
These recordings are also published in CD format on the Raven label (catalog no. OAR-208), which also includes detailed liner notes about the collection, the composers and the compositions.

ABOUT L'ORGUE MODERNE
Between 1894 and 1930, Widor and his colleague Alexandre Guilmant curated a collection of 70 compositions for solo organ entitled L'Orgue Moderne, published over 42 periodical editions. The vast majority of works published were by Widor's or Guilmant's students or colleagues or by students from other major Parisian musical institutions: the École Niedermeyer and the Schola Cantorum. As a whole, the collection gives a broad glimpse into the compositional style advocated by the Paris Conservatoire during the early years of the 20th century.
This project is supported in part by:
• The Institute for Music Leadership at the Eastman School of Music with funding support by the Paul R. Judy Center for Innovation and Research
• Juget-Sinclair Organbuilders
• Raven Recordings
