흘러넘치는 어머니의 사랑

안개 너머로 장엄하면서도 유려하게 펼쳐진 커다란 두루마리 속에서 산수가 넘실거린다. 이 산수는 공간 밖으로 흘러 넘치듯 나와, 물과 나룻배, 바위까지 이어진다. 「어머니 그리고 산」에서 작가는 어머니가 생전 유람할 수 없었던 아름다운 산에서 머물기를 염원하는 마음을 작품에 담아냈다. 전시 공간의 바위와 강, 나룻배는 산수화 속 한 장면을 구현해낸 것으로, 바위처럼 단단하고 강하면서도 흐르는 강처럼 부드러운 심성을 지닌 어머니에게 나아가고 싶은 작가의 애틋함을 나타낸다.

Behind a soft mist, a grand landscape scroll flows softly and powerfully. The scenery spills beyond the screen and is reflected in rocks, water, and a boat. In 「Mother and Mountain」, Lee expresses a deep wish for his late mother to rest peacefully within the beauty of mountains she could never visit. The rocks, trees, river, and boat in the installation recreate scenes from traditional landscape paintings. They also reflect the artist's tender longing for his mother, whose spirit was as strong as stone and as gentle as a flowing river.
