Stocks make money slowly compared to options.

Options make money really fast, but can lose money just as fast.

Option spreads are a way to BUY TIME when trading options such that you still make money but if a trade goes against you, you can compensate by making less money or losing less than you otherwise would with individual naked calls or puts.
