This particular Gibson Firebird V guitar is a 120 Year Anniversary model from 2014.
Gibson launched the Firebird in 1963 with four main models:
Firebird I – One pickup, wrap-around bridge, dot inlays, and no neck binding.
Firebird II - Two pickups, stud bridge/tailpiece and Gibson Vibrola, dot inlays, and neck binding.
Firebird V - Two pickups, Tune-o-matic bridge with Maestro Vibrola, trapezoid inlays, and neck binding.
Firebird VII - Three pickups, Tune-o-matic bridge and Maestro Vibrola, gold hardware, block inlays, and neck binding.
The Firebird pickups are a type of humbuckers but not PAF humbuckers. I have read folks describing them as high output and jangly. I would agree with that. They are not like anything I have heard before. Acoustically when played clean on an amp they are really pretty sounding. Almost like an acoustic guitar plugged in.
They all shared thru-body construction and a unique "reversed" body shape with a large lower horn. Meaning that the forward horn instead of being on the top like a Fender Stratocaster is on the bottom.
