Unlike the more famous Monument Valley, Valley of the Gods sees fewer visitors, making it a quieter and more “wild” experience —a place where the wind whispers secrets through the canyons, and the sun paints the landscape in hues of fiery orange and dusky red.

We drive Valley of the Gods from west to east along a twisting 17-mile gravel road flanked by towering reddish-brown buttes and mesas, offering breathtaking views. These ancient rock formations bear names like the Seven Sailors Butte, Castle Butte, Sitting Hen Butte, and even the whimsical Lady in the Bathtub.

You can drive the entire loop in about an hour or take your time to enjoy the changing terrain. Camping overnight is also an option and the entrance to this area is free, as it is owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
