GMC Savana 3500 1st Tow
This video is in two parts. The first part is the first time we hitched, towed, and backed using the Savana. When we changed tow vehicles, everything was a bit different. It didn't hitch the same. As we drove, we saw that it didn't tow the same; there were minor differences, but they were differences. It also turned differently because the wheelbase on the Savana is different than it was on the Nissan. So the first part of the video is just seeing what the differences are and if they will take major adjustments. We won't have any big adjustments when differences when we two with the Savana. We took just a few minutes to go to a large empty parking lot to see how it was with backing, towing, and turning.
The second part of the video is what Sharon likes to call the shakedown trip. It's the first trip in the early spring or summer when we see if everything is working like it should, and we remind ourselves of things that are different from things at home. We traveled only around 90 miles from home.
Sharon, our chief driver, said she likes the way the Savana tows. She also let our viewers know that we are still in Central Texas, and we are not near a weigh station. We do want to weigh the travel trailer again and see how much the van weighs when it's loaded. We will weigh it as soon as we can.
Sharon did have to adjust the brake controller a tad. When we backed in at the campsite, we could hear the brakes, so Sharon adjusted them.
No complaints about how the Savana worked for us. The insulation and putting some things on the shelves made it quiet. It didn't have the power of the Nissan, but the Nissan was an 8 cylinder while the Savana is a 6 cylinder. The Savana did everything we needed it to do. Check back in a year or so to see if we're still pleased with our GMC Savana.
