Daikaku-ji Temple in Kyoto: A Serene Cherry Blossom Hidden Gem Gently Forgotten by Time
In the bustling Arashiyama district of Kyoto, most eyes are drawn to the iconic Togetsukyo Bridge and the majestic Tenryu-ji Temple. However, just a short twenty-minute walk away from the crowds lies a little-known haven of tranquility – Daikaku-ji Temple. For me, Daikaku-ji is not just an ancient temple; it's a sanctuary where I can find peace of mind. I love it so much that I even became a member of their Heart Sutra club, hoping to deepen my connection with its serenity and wisdom. And I've always believed that Daikaku-ji is a seriously underrated cherry blossom viewing spot in Kyoto. Compared to the throngs of people at Togetsukyo, the number of visitors here is probably less than one-hundredth, or even one-thousandth, allowing us to truly leisurely appreciate the magnificent sight of cherry blossoms in full bloom.
