Gwen Shamblin Lara | “Who’s Your Master?” (with Chaucer & Virginia)

Weigh Down Ministries founder Gwen Shamblin Lara explains the reason people struggle with losing their weight permanently is due to having two masters—God AND the food. Illustrating her point, she tells the story of how her two dogs, Chaucer and Virginia, had a time of continually wandering away from her home over to the horse barns next door...and the heart break she felt as her dogs were more devoted to the neighbors affection and wouldn't come home to the calling of her voice. Gwen went to great lengths to lure her dogs back home and eventually Chaucer and Virginia learned who their true loving master really was...and they came home! Similarly, we cannot serve both God and food—and God is going to great lengths to win our hearts back home to Him. Stopping overeating is so simple once you choose a master because you are so in tune with whom you really love. Today, choose a master! Just like Chaucer and Virginia had a change of heart and came home, get off the fence and come home prodigal son!
