“Empowered Farmers, Sustainable Rural Progress”
Established in 1994, the Allen ARC spans 1,438 hectares across four barangays in Northen Samar, with 458 hectares distributed under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) to 313 agrarian reform beneficiaries. Anchored in rice and coconut farming, the ARC boasts an impressive rice yield of 4.7 metric tons per hectare surpassing the regional average of 2.75 MT per hectare, showcasing its agricultural vitality.
Five dynamic agrarian reform beneficiaries’ organizations (ARBOs) fuel the ARC’s growth through a range of initiatives: irrigation systems, organic vegetables cultivation, rice and egg production, potable water access, flourishing enterprise ventures and a farm business school. Farmers are guided by Knowledge Champions who promote climate-smart agriculture and agri-entrepreneurship, ensuring resilience in the face of environmental and economic challenges.
Standout features of the ARC are: the BARRIOPRENEUR: a visionary program launched by the LGU of Allen to unify forty-two (42) farmer groups under one banner of agri-entrepreneurship, and a model for Solid Waste Management Program, which transforms waste into income-generating opportunities—turning environmental stewardship into sustainable livelihoods.
The Allen ARC exemplifies the power of land-to-livelihood transformation, proving that when farmers are empowered, rural communities flourish.
