Greater Anglia Trains at Enfield Lock on July 28th 2021

1st visit to Enfield Lock on the West Anglia Main Line featuring Greater Anglia services including Hertford East and Bishops Stortford stopping services.

Enfield Lock station was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway in 1855 as Ordance Factory 15 years after the original line between Stratford and Broxbourne was opened by the Northern & Eastern Railway.

It was renamed to Enfield Lock in 1886.

At one time Enfield Lock was the main station for connection to the Royal Small Arms Factory however closed in the 1980s and nowadays the station serves a large housing development known as Enfield Inland Village and also the nearby Innova Science and Business Park.

Train services mostly every 15 minutes with 2 per hour to and from Hertford East from London Liverpool Street and 2 per hour to and from Bishops Stortford from Stratford.

The trains on the line are changing with the Class 745s built by Stadler nowadays occupy the Stansted Express services to Stansted Airport although unlike the 745/0s on the GEML to Norwich the ones used on Stansted services are Standard Class only.

The Class 317s are in their final months of operation they along with the Class 379s are due to be replaced by Class 720s although full replacement is due to be completed by Summer 2022 according to Greater Anglia.

The Class 379s introduced for Stansted Express in 2011 are now being used for Hertford East, Bishops Stortford and Cambridge services although they are due to be cascaded elsewhere after the New Class 720s arrive however at the time of filming their future is still unknown.
